Primrose Bakery Cupcake Masterclass – review

Last weekend we attended the Covent Garden branch of Primrose Bakery for a Masterclass on all things Cupcakes!

The two hour session caters to around 12 people maximum and is hosted by one of the bakery’s pastry chef’s, making it an intimate and educating class to enjoy with friends!

Whilst we were there, we received our very own Primrose Bakery apron (which Nat loved, see picture below) before being seated at a table hosting three different cake sprinkles/decorations and three flavoured butter icings – all to be used on pre-baked cakes.

The next few hours comprised of learning how to make a signature vanilla buttercream along with some basic decorating skills. Firstly, you will be shown two different icing techniques – both used at the bakery – followed by how to decorate the cupcakes with the sprinkles provided, before finally learning how to personalise your sweet treats.

At the end of your class, you get to take home 8 cupcakes (4 regular sized and 4 minis) along with a recipe card and a voucher for a free cupcake (sadly, not the apron).

When comparing the price (£45 per person) of the Primrose Bakery Masterclass to others like it’s kind, we can’t deny that it is very reasonable and serves as a perfect treat for a friend or family member who loves to bake, especially as classes appear to be aimed at beginners. Most surprising to us too was just how many cupcakes we actually got to take home with us (result!).

Overall, if you’re looking for a special gift for a baking enthusiast or thinking about enhancing your own skills, this is definitely one for you!
