This refreshing drink shouldn’t just be restricted to the Americans. Similar to a cloudy lemonade (my favourite!) this bitter sweet variation is the perfect addition to any BBQ this summer and so easy to make.
- 4 large lemons
- 100g caster sugar
- 500ml boiling water
- 500ml sparkling water
- Firstly, remove the peel from each of the lemons (leaving the pith) and then juice, removing all the pips
- Next, add the sugar, lemon juice and lemon peel to the boiling water and stir until the sugar completely dissolves
- Once cooled, add the sparkling water, stir and pour into a litre bottle
- Serve with a slice of lemon and ice
Tip: If you want the lemonade to remain fizzy, I would recommend making and serving on the same day as it goes slightly flat when left overnight. It still tastes amazing though!
